Year 2 Growing Project
In Year 2 we have been looking at “Growing”. We learned all about the parts of a plant.
We planted some onion, spinach and lettuce seeds, and measured them as they grew.
For art we then created a collage of sunflowers using the style of Vincent Van Gogh.
To grow our own plants at home, we designed and made thumb pots in clay for someone in our family and painted them.
Finally we opened our own restaurant, we designed banners, wrote menus and invitations for it. Our grand opening was attended by Years 4, 5 and 6, who came and bought our home-made sandwiches.
We all had different roles, to make sure that we worked as a team. We had order-takers, drinks waiters, food waiters, and people to take payment.
It was a fun project and we all know a lot more about plants as a result.
