Primary Curriculum

In the Primary school we place great emphasis on the core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and Information Technology.

We have fully implemented the national literacy and numeracy strategies and plan carefully to develop the children´s language and mathematical skills, both through focused, specific lessons every day and  also across the whole curriculum.

In language, the children are given a wide variety of activities involving speaking, listening, reading and writing.

In Mathematics, close attention is paid to number work and to the application of skills in different contexts.

In Science, pupils explore the world in which we live, learning methods of analysis, hypothesis, observation, designing and carrying out experiments and recording results.

Music, Physical Education and Spanish are also taught through specialist teaching. Other subjects are taught through an integrated cross-curricular approach.

There is considerable support for children experiencing difficulties.
