FULL DAY ACTIVITIES LINKED TO THE REINA SOFÍA MUSEUM

On the 25th April St George’s organised a full day of art activities linked with the Reina Sofia in Madrid for students in Years 2, 3 and 4.The Reina Sofia runs a programme whereby they begin the day at school with the children to give them an introduction to the artists and their work that they will view at the museum. The three classes then spent the morning at the Reina Sofia viewing and listening to talks about the work of artists such as Picasso, Klein and Jorn. The children were encouraged to discuss their own interpretations of the artwork and were guided to explore further ideas. The children then headed back to school accompanied by the museums cultural volunteers who ran an afternoon of fun filled activities for the students encompassing the techniques of the artists that they had studied at the museum.
