The Royal Botanical Garden is situated in the centre of Madrid, next to the Prado Museum and The Retiro Park. This research centre runs an autumn programme which offers an excellent opportunity for all ages to enter into the world of botany, enjoy nature and perhaps discover a new hobby. The students enjoyed workshops, using the garden as the primary resource. These workshops have a fundamental theme, plants. There is a ‘classroom’ equipped with scientific material where some of the workshops are carried out. The equipment includes: (magnifying glasses, binoculars, microscopes, herbariums and microscopic preparations). Each workshop is adapted according to each age group and is run by qualified staff trained by the Royal Botanical Garden. The children then combined a pleasant walk through the gardens and greenhouses with a talk on botany and its history, the many uses of plants and their importance in our lives.
